Congratulations to Kyle
Presbury who recently was awarded the NEMJFA best and fairest in the
under 15 red division. Kyle has had an outstanding season and is worthy
recipient of the award.
Congratulations to our
under 12s and under 14s who today took out the respective premierships.
The under 12s took on Para Hills at Athelstone and were in front all
game taking out the GF comfortably 10:9 69 to 4:4 28. At Argana
Park the under 14s battled with Salisbury North in a great match.
The Demons just too strong on the day taking it out 10:4 64 to 5:5 35.
Well done to the young Demons who thoroughly deserve their Premierships.
The victorious Under !4 side who defeated Salisbury North in the

Collegians. Well done to the Under 14s who also had a good win
Well another close one
that got away from us. On Saturday Flinders Park ventured out to Dwight
Reserve to tackle the Demons, they were trying to keep their finals
chances alive and in the first round they smashed and embarrassed us to
the tune of over 100 pts. We came out and kicked the first goal then
they kicked the next 3 to hold a slender lead at half time. In the
second quarter we began to take control of the game and at half time we
had our noses in front. In the 3rd quarter, we took control of the game
and at 3/4 time we lead by 2 and a bit goals. At the half way mark of
the last quarter we lead by 21 points and then they kicked 5 unanswered
goals in about 7 minutes to lead by 10 points. Corey Coad kicked a goal
to get the margin to 4 points with 2 minutes to go, then young Shawn
took a contested mark and unfortunately the ball clipped the post and we
lost by 3 points. A gut wrenching loss but another learning experience
for our young brigade. Best players were Tuckers who tagged their
premier onballer out of the game, Whitey continued with his stellar
form, Adrian Wilson marked everything and kicked 5 goals, Alex Clements
was solid down back, Shawn Mansell chipped in with 4 goals and P.J and
Robbo had very good games. Last game v Uni this week at Uni, a lot of
good memories from that oval and we put it to them in round one. Lets
finish the year off with a top side scalp and finish off the year with
some pride. Yours in footy Dusty

The Demons hosted Old
Iggies last Saturday with bragging rights up for grabs as both teams are
heading for Div 3 next year. In the first round Old Iggies won by about
5 goals and revenge was on our mind. From the outset Iggies dominated
most facets of play, they were first to the ball and used the ball a lot
cleaner than the Demons and at 1/4 time we were two goals down. In the
second quarter they continued to dominated and we were 30 odd points
down at 1/2 time and not playing very smart footy. After half time we
made a few positional moves and all of a sudden the boys clicked into
gear and took control of the game, the backline through Whitey and Robbo
held out most attacks and our forwards started to apply some much needed
scoreboard pressure. At 3/4 time the Demons had clawed their way back to
a narrow deficit and a huge effort was required to win the game. The
game see sawed for most of the quarter, goal for goal, blow for blow. In
the end our boys ran them off their feet and enjoyed our 2nd win for the
year. Best players were Scotty White at fullback is in top form of late,
Adrian Wilson went up forward and kicked 5 of his 6 goals in the 3rd
quarter, Robbo off half back was as solid as a rock, Zac got our
onballers on top after half time, Flex kicked 4 goals and provided much
needed support to Adrian and our young brigade did some brilliant things
at the death. Well done lads, two tough games to finish the year off,
lets give them both our best shot. Yours in footy Dusty .
Should be a great day!! All past player Welcome. There will be
Club merchandise for sale 30% off normal prices with 40% off for
eagerly awaited for Modbury to front up at our home ground to get our
first much needed win. In the first round we handed them the game and we
were very keen to prove to ourselves and our supporters that we could
get over the line. Missing key players Adrian Wilson, Starry, Sardi,
Matty A, Chris Lewis to name a few really required our boys to dig deep.
In the first quarter we jumped out of the blocks and lead by 4 goals at
quarter time. In the second quarter the game turned on its head with
Modbury kicking 5 goals to our one to lead by one kick at the main
break. A hamstring injury to Ricky O and a calf injury to Ian Williamson
once again took away our rotation ability and with one player on the
bench for the entire second half life was going to get tougher. In the
3rd quarter it was virtually goal for goals and we got the ascendancy
just before 3/4 time to lead by 2 goals. In the final quarter once again
it was goal for goal and we held on to win by 7 pts. Best players were
Scotty White who was impassable at Full Back, Jack Fergus carried the
ruck for most of the day and kicked 3 goals, Shawn Mansell kicked 5
goals to continue on with his good season, Flexer kicked 3.5 not a bad
effort seeing his calves prevented him from full movement, and P.J did a
great job with tagging their prime onballers. Great win by the boys and
lets hope we can win a few more games. Yours in footy Dusty
Demons ventured out to Thebbie for our "home" game on Saturday to begin
the second round. The first quarter was a tight struggle as both
defences were on top and it was a battle of the backlines. At quarter
time PAOC held a one goal lead. In the second the game opened up with
PAOC using the ball a lot better than us and at half time we were two
goals down and a huge effort was required. In the third quarter we had
more possession but struggled to convert on the scoreboard. In the last
quarter we were still two goals down but drifted off and POAC kicked
away. Another disappointing result, in the end they used the ball a lot
better than us and our laziness when not in possession cost us. Best
players were Jaron Burke at full back, young Kym Sumner provided some
much needed zip around half fwd and kicked 3 goals, Adrian Wilson once
again lead from the front, Jack Fergus played a good game until injuring
his ribs and Shawn Mansell once again provided his normal spark up
forward. Yours in footy Dusty.
Demons took on old foe Adelaide Uni at home on Saturday and with the
injury list growing with the losses of Matty A, Flex and Ricky Butler
all with ankles our job was always going to be tough. We set up
structure up different and from the outset it seemed to work with us
being in front at 1/4 time in a scrappy affair. In the second quarter
Uni took the front and our boys battled on and continued to play solid
football. We were down by a couple at half time and when uni opened up
the lead to just over 4 goals it looked as though the floodgates were
about to open. To the boys credit they reduced the margin to 6pts at
the last break and a huge effort was asked for in the final stanza.
Injuries to Robbo and Adrian towards the end of the game didn't help our
cause and we fought it out until the end. We lost by 30 pts. Best
players on the day were Bruno who dominated down back, Whitey was very
solid at Fullback, Starry kicked 4 goals ably supported by Shawn Mansell
with 3. Ricky O displayed glimpses of brilliance and kept us in touch.
Well done to the 3 young blokes who came up from B grade, Kym Sumner
played well in his first game, young Callum played his first game for
the year and Tucky played his first senior game for the club. Lets now
get some much needed wins on the board for the second half of the year.
Yours in footy, Dusty
Demons ventured out to Modbury who were 2 and 2 and with us trying to
get on the board. Modbury got out of the blocks a bit quicker than us,
they played a loose man in their defence and he cut off many of our
forward thrusts, poor delivery into the forward line hurt us in the
first quarter, we were one goal down at the first break. In the 2nd
quarter the game opened up with both teams trading goals and poor
finishing by the Demons flattered the Modbury boys, we should have been
at least 3 goals up at the long break but had our noses just in front.
In the 3rd quarter once again we controlled most of the game but lacked
scoreboard pressure, Modbury used the most of their chances where we
worked overtime to get most of our goals...Some poor discipline just
before 3/4 time allowed Modbury to kick two goals and level the scores
up...The last quarter we once again hit the lead and lead for all but
the final seconds....They marked virtually on the siren and another act
of poor discipline saw them kick the goal on the siren to tie the scores
up. The boys were totally gutted, and must learn to control their
emotions as we wont win any games of football until we all abide by the
team rules. Best players were Flex who kicked 8 goals, Jake Hazeal from
Centrals dominated his wing all day, Corey Clarke played a very good
first game in the seniors, Shawn Mansell played another good game of
footy, Phil O flashed in and out with brilliance and bit Matty A gave
his onballers an armchair ride for most of the day. Yours in footy Dusty
The Demons hosted TTG on
Saturday for a must win game for us, they recruited very well and word
around the traps is that they will be one of the teams to beat this
year. The first quarter was an even affair, both teams went forward at
will and some good finishing from both teams saw them one goal up 6
goals to 5 at 1/4 time. In the second quarter we had as much ball as
they did but they used it a lot better and were more effective when
going forward...At times we struggled through the half forward line, our
forward line pressure let us down. At half time we were 4 goals down but
very much still in the game...In the 3rd it was similar to the second.
we had so much of the footy but let ourselves down with poor disposal
into the forward half and it seemed every time they went forward they
capitalised. We were 8 goals down at 3/4 time and came out in the last
quarter and kicked the first 3 goals and looked liked storming
home...Injuries to Adrian Wilson, Sardi and cramps to Jack Fergus
severely depleted our bench and TTG kicked some very easy goals at the
death to win by 9 goals. Although the scoreboard suggested a whitewash
it was far from it, we played some very good attacking footy, we lacked
a bit of poise down defence in the end but ran out of fit players. Best
players were Zac Millar who returned to some good form, Matty A rucked
tirelessly all day, Ricky O kicked 6 goals in his first game back, Shawn
Mansell kicked 5 goals from a forward flank and a special mention to Ray
Smith who played his first game and gave Matty some much needed support.
Although we are 0 and 4, we have played the 4 top sides, this week
Modbury at Modbury is a winnable game, lets put some consistency
together and win our first game. Yours in footy Dusty.
ventured out to Walkerville on Saturday and little did we know that the
day was going to be as tough as it ended up being. From the first bounce
it was quite evident that we were in for a very long day, the opposition
dominated most spots around the ground and the officials made it quite
clear that we were not going to be treated with the same respect or
within the spirit of the game. Walkerville trounced us in the first half
and the scoreboard reflected that. In the 3rd quarter we came out and
played some decent football, we won the quarter and in the last the game
was out of our reach but we toughed it out as best as we could. We can
no longer use the amount of new players as an excuse, its simply a case
of we are not as good as we thought we were and we need to work hard to
improve our performances. Best players were Matty A rucked tirelessly
all day, Robbo again was solid down back with Adrian, Flex had a
brilliant 3rd quarter, Ricky Butler once again was our highest
possession gatherer, Zac got enough of it but continues to get hammered
and Jack showed glimpses of form. This week we face TTG at home, we are
the only winless team in the comp and we need to find some winning form.

Round one finally
arrived and we travelled out to PAOC, they just missed playing finals in
2011 and a tough game was expected. From the outset PAOC dominated in
most areas of the ground, there skills were well above ours and for most
of the first half we fumbled and bumbled our way and found ourselves 40
pts down at half time. Good players were few and far between for the
first half and we spent most of it trying to shut down the opposition.
After half time we reloaded and came out firing, we finally took the
game on and dominated for most of the quarter but only outscored them by
1 goal. In the final quarter we came over the top of them, we kicked 8
goals and fell short by 8 points. Basically we played just short of 2
quarters of footy and lost by 8. Best players were Ricky Butler, Dan
McGee, Phil O'Loughlin, Matty Robertson and Adrian Wilson. This week we
host Portland who beat the highly fancied Port Districts, lets kick the
season off with our first win in front of our home crowd. Yours in footy
and thanks Dusty

Demons kicked off the season with our first full on trial v Ardrossan at
Ardrossan, a nice big oval presented itself in very good knick and the
boys were almost full strength with Starry and Robbo the two notable
absentees due to work and wedding. Other regular a graders, Mozza and
Easy played ressies and P.J was unavailable due to a birthday. From the
outset the Demons dominated most positions with Matty A and Bruno
presenting the onballers with first touch and following erratic
finishing off in front of goal lead by 5.8 to 2.1 at 1/4 time. In the
second quarter the boys were instructed to become more team focussed and
to get the ball to the top of the goal square, it paid dividends as we
kicked 10 goals to 1 in the second quarter to lead by 12 goals at half
time. Following a huge spray from their coach, they came out in the 3rd
and made it difficult for us to play our flow on game plan. We outscored
them 3 to 2 goals in the 3rd and in the fourth we outscored them 5 goals
to two with the score 23.17 to 7.5. Great effort by the boys first up
and good signs for a big year. Best players in a good team effort were
Scotty White who dominated onball and when resting at half back, young
Natos dashes from down back were sensational, Bruno and Matty A won the
ruck contests against a quality big ruckman, Ricky O kicked a lazy 7,
Butz and Zac dominated in midfield and Shaun Mansell almost took the
mark of the century. This week we should get a better idea of where we
are at against fellow Div2 club Old Iggies down at West Terrace. Well
done to Donners and the B grade who won their game by about 7 goals,
good signs early boys looks like we may have some solid depth back in

Saturday saw the Demons kick off their season with an intra club game at
home. 45 players fronted up with 15 others unavailable due to cricket,
work and injuries. Two even teams were picked and the boys paced
themselves against each other in what turned out to be a great hit out.
The most pleasing thing on the day was the performance of all the new
players to the club. Bruno O'Loughlin rucked most of the day and
depending on Matty Armstrongs availability due to injury showed he will
be an asset as number one ruckman. Scott White, Matty Robertson, Ricky
Butler and the returning Zac Millar will give us a strong onball
brigade. Ricky O kicked a lazy 13 goals, Starry at CHF took some telling
marks, Jake Sardi from the Army dominated all day and young Nathan
McIvor put his hand up for a spot in the 21. This week we are off to
Ardrossan and will be strengthened by the availability of Adrian Wilson,
Jack Fergus, Jaron Bourke, PJ, Knappy, Mozza. All Demons supporters are
encouraged to come along and offer your support.
