Congratulations to Carey Payne on his appointment as
the A grade coach for season 2007. Carey has been an A grade
stalwart for some years playing 150 games for the demons and now has
the opportunity to take the lead as senior coach. He takes over the
reigns from Troy Starr who did a great job last season and was
elected to life member status at the AGM.
Senior training begins on Tuesday the 9th of January at 6:00 PM at
Eastern Park and the junior registration day will be held on
Saturday the 10th of February at the clubrooms between 12:00 midday
and 3:00 PM.
A new committee has been elected for the 2007 season
with Damian Griffiths taking on the president's role once again. He
along with Bob Hamilton (Vice President), Jon Durrant (Secretary),
Sarah Gold (Treasurer) and Ollie Gatto (Assistant Treasurer) will no
doubt serve the club well and guide it through another good year.
Under 13s - PREMIERS 2006!!! A great win by our
lads today in their match against Hope Valley. The boys
started a little slowly but their Eastern Park spirit kicked in and
our boys kicked away. A good effort by Hope Valley saw a good
contest all game. Good skills were on display and some of the
lads showed that they will be good senior footballers in the years
to come. The final score Eastern Park 9:5 59 to Hope Valley
4:5 29. Congratulations to all the Eastern Park Under
Below: The boys
celebrating their Premiership win.
There is only one Eastern Park side left in the finals
after this weekend's losses by our B Grade and Under 18s. The
B grade came up against Salisbury in an elimination final at Haslam
oval and didn't seem to be settled all day. A few to many turnovers
and skill errors cost the Dees in the end and they weren't able to
get over the line. The final score EPFC 7:9 52 to Salisbury 8:8 56.
What looked to be a big possibility for a premiership a few weeks
ago has today evaporated for our under 18s. An underwhelming
performance, saw them lose their second major round game and so exit
the finals. Flinders Park took the game by the scruff in the
later half of the first quarter, kicking eight goals and were never
seriously challenged from then on. Our boys did not show what
they are capable of and poor discipline cost them big time. A
sad way to finish off what was a good season. The final score
EPFC 8:10 58 to Flinders Park 28:15 183.
We still have our Under 13s to play in a grand final at Ingle
Farm at 11:25am on Sunday 3rd September, so get along and support
our junior team. Good Luck Boys!!!
Well that's the season for our As and Cs but at least
we have some teams involved with finals. The Bs managed to
scrape into the five with a narrow 3 point win over Flinders Park,
keeping Payneham NU out of the race who had superior percentage but
less wins. Great stuff lads. The final score EPFC 5:8 38
to Flinders Park 5:5 35. The As were never in the hunt
in the later game. They were easily dealt with and probably
were looking forward to the end of the season, the final scores EPFC
4:9 33 to Flinders Park 15:18 108.
The C grade certainly finished off the season well by chalking up
their second win for the year. They came up against Flinders
Uni who were second bottom on the ladder and narrowly brought home
the points. It was not enough to lift them from the wooden
spoon position but it was a good win none the less. The final
score EPFC 14:07 91 to Flinders Uni 12:16 88
It was not a good day for our under 18s who were up against
Lockleys in a semi final played at Kilburn. Our boys were flat and
lacked the endeavour they have showed us all year. The have a second
chance next week against Flinders Park and will have to lift their
games if they are to make the Grand Final. The Final score
EPFC 9:9 63 to Lockleys 16:12 108.
A great win for our under 13s who have been dominant all year.
They played Walkerville at Ingle Farm and came away with a
comfortable 7 goal victory. The win gives them a berth in the grand
final. The final score was EPFC 10:4 64 to Walkerville
Only one more game to the end of the minor round, or
at at least for our senior sides in the SAAFL. The under 18s
and 13s will begin their finals campaign next weekend so make sure
that we all get out to support them. This weekend' s games saw
our As and Bs up against Walkerville at home and the result was not
a good one for our A graders. In a rather insipid performance
our lads were outclassed by a better team. The final score
EPFC 8:15 63 to Walkerville 19:20 134. The Bs effort was much
better in the earlier game and they managed a good win. The
last time they faced Walkerville they were on the end of a 82 point
pasting, but the boys turned this around to win be a healthy 31
points. The final score EPFC 12:15 87 to Walkerville 8:8 56.
A great win for the boys including five under 18s players who were
prominent in the game.
A seventy point loss for our C grade who have struggled this year.
They were up against SMOSH and it was another hard day at the
office. At home next week and up against fellow cellar
dwellers Flinders Uni, so lets hope the lads an finish in a high.
All members should get out to support the sides we have in the
finals and hopefully they we be able to bring home a couple of flags
for our great club.
The first win of the season for Eastern Park's C grade
this weekend. It was a long time coming but the Div 8 boys
certainly deserved their impressive win over St Peters. The
lads had 30 more scoring shots than the old collegiate side.
The final score 17:24 126 to St Peters 8:3 51. The As and Bs
took a short trip down to Salisbury and it wasn't the best day for
us with the As going down in a game they should have won. Last
on the ladder, Salisbury were much harder at the ball and certainly
reaped the rewards. The final score EPFC 11:14 80 to Salisbury
16:14 110. The B grade, however were much better and had an
easy win in the early game, doubling Salisbury's score. The
final score 9:11 64 to 4:8 32. Good job!
The under 18s didn't have to travel far either with their game
against Smithfield played just up the road. It was another
very solid performance by the lads who have been the benchmark in
the under 18s competition. The final score, (a thumping) EPFC
21:19 145 to Smithfield 5:4 34.
Congratulations also today for a number of junior players
with milestone games. Sam Biggs, an under 13, playing his
100th today, along with Matthew Friel in the under 18s. A 150
game milestone for Jason Parkes, also in the under 18s and to Luke
Wilton who played his 200th junior game for the Eastern Park
Football Club. Well done to you all, a great effort lads.

The season is drawing to a close with only three
rounds left to play. The A and B grades hosted Old Ignatians this
week at Dwight Reserve and our boys had mixed results. In the
early game the lads outclassed the opposition and ran out
comfortable winners. The win keeps the finals hopes alive but the Bs
need to keep winning to have any hope. The A grade started
reasonably with the Demons being 1 point up at quarter time but it
was all down hill from there on. With the exception of a few
players the boys effort was very poor going down by over 10 goals in
the end. One we would rather forget. A great game by
Matthew Friel who came up from the under 18s and played hard all day
and never gave up.
A very disappointing day for our under 18s who did not get to play
due to a forfeit by Flinders Park. The boys have Smithfield
next week, so all demon supporters should get up there a get behind
the future of our club.
After a break for the state game last weekend, Eastern
Park ventured down to Payneham to face a second on the ladder in
form team. The lads fought hard all day, particularly in the
third when they kicked five straight goals, but unfortunately were
overrun by a good side. The final score EPFC 14:10 94 to
Payneham NU 21:18 144. The B grade managed to fly the flag for
the clb with a great win in the early game. The lads were
three goals down at the last change and showed lots of character in
the last to kick five goals and grab the win. The final Score
EPFC 10:12 72 to Payneham NU 9:14 68.
The C grade hosted Broadview at home and they almost came away with the
win. The lads played well all day and went down by just over
two goals against a much higher ranked side. The final score
EPFC 7:7 49 to 8:16 64. The under 18s had another good
win, this time against Salisbury North. The boys stared slowly
in this away game but fought back to win comfortably in the end.
The final Score EPFC 15:11 101 to Salisbury North 9:5 59.
Congratulation to Daniel O'Rielly pictured left with coach, Trevor
Ward on reaching 150 junior games with the Eastern Park Football
Another round gone for the year and it wasn't the best for our
A and B grades who both suffered losses at the hands of Pembroke OS,
down at Haslam oval.
In the early game the Bs started slowly and were never able to catch
up. Although the lads showed they could play some good footy
they were just too inconsistent to make inroads into Pembroke's
score. The final result Pembroke 10:9 69 to EPFC 6:12 48.
The A grade were up against it too in game which was quite a
spiteful affair. The boys were down by a goal at quarter time
but the margin at each break grew as the game went on. The Old
Scholars' side just too good on the day. The final score
Pembroke 20:14 134 to EPFC 10:11 71. The C grade were at home
against Adelaide Uni and the younger more capable side were just to
good for us. The final score Adelaide Uni 23:12 150 to EPFC 5:8 38.
Our under 18s were at home and were up against another red and blue
side in Lockleys. Our boys started slowly and were 3 goals
down at half time. The lads got their act together and fought
back in the second half to run out victors by 8 points in what was a
great game. The final score EPFC 11:11 77 to Lockleys 10:9 69.
This weekend of footy started on Friday night under
lights at Largs North where our under 18s had another good win.
In cold, windy and slightly wet conditions the young demons played a
good brand of running football. They were comfortable winners in the
end with the final score being EPFC 16:17 113 to North Haven 6:5 41.
The A and B grades were at home and came up against Pooraka.
The Bs had a great win kicking 24 goals in what was pretty average
weather. The lad's skills very sharp and clean considering the
conditions, with good run from the backlines. A great win EPFC
24:10 154 to Pooraka 1:3 9. The As were also good in their
game although the weather and the conditions were lousy. Nine
goal kickers for the demons is always a good sign. The
final score EPFC 15:14 104 to Pooraka 7:11 53.
The C grade were on the end of another thumping, this time at the
hands of Sacred Heart. The lads had three juniors help them
out but it was all to no avail. If you want to know the score
go to the results menu.
All three senior grades this week played Athelstone in
their matches and all three were unsuccessful. The A and B
grades made the trip down to Athelstone and were facing top of the
ladder teams in both grades. With only one loss for the season
the Athelstone As were always going to be tough and that proved to
be the case, the final score EPFC 12:6 78 to the Raggies 24:11
155. The Bs were also up against it with their opposition
undefeated for the season. The boys tried hard all day but
were never in the hunt, the final score 6:3 39 to Athelstone 16:18
The Cs were at home and lets face it, they are not having the best
of seasons. Although this Athelstone side was nowhere
near the top of the ladder, our boys were not able to come away with
the win. The fnal score EPFC 8:11 59 to Athelstone 19:10 124.
Our 18s were at home and hosted Smithfield who contrary to recent
reports in the press were fair in their approach to the game.
It was a tight game all day with the young Demons fighting back in
the last quarter to take the points. The final score EPFC
12:12 84 to Smithfield 9:11 65.
The midseason break was a good one for the Dees and
their first game back was even better. At home again, the lads
came up against PAOC and were simply too strong. They didn't
have it all their own way, especially in the first half, but managed
to power away in the second to win by 70 points. The margin
could have been much more, if not for inaccurate kicking, the final
score EPFC 21:28 154 to PAOC 13: 6 84. The B grade also had a
great win with probably the best four quarter performance of the
year. The PAOC side were 3 on the ladder so it was a good win
foe the boys. The final score EPFC 13:6 84 to PAOC 10:10 70.
The C grade took a trip up to Modbury and had a real
struggle on their hands. Although the lads were down quite a
few goals at half time they had a crack and managed to hold Modbury
in the second half. The final score EPFC 2:0 12 to Modbury
24:17 161. The 18s went down to Flinders Park and the
opposition could only mange to field 16 players. This made it
difficult for the Dees trying to manage an all ready overflowing
bench. The boys lead al day but with rotations unsettling our
team it became a struggle in the end. The final score EPFC 12
11 83 to Flinders Park 12:7 89.
Not the best round of football for Eastern Park's
senior sides, with all of them having a loss. The As and Bs
ventured down to Walkerville and the home sides was just too strong
for them both. The As were not far off the mark but just
couldn't stand up when it was needed going down by 21 points in the
end. Walkerville 13:13 91 to EPFC 10:10 70. In the
earlier game the Bs were outclassed by a stronger Walkerville side,
and were never really in the hunt. The margin blew out to a
hefty 81 points, the final score Walkerville 17:15 117 to EPFC
The C grade were at home and it was no wedding present for
Keith K. The home ground advantage non-existent for the Dees
going down to SMOSH 19:14 128 to EPFC 8:11 59.
Our under 18's also suffered a loss this weekend, their first for
the season. They were unable to keep it together in their
match against a strong finishing Lockleys side. The boys are
still atop the U18 Div 2 ladder but this game was a wake up call for
The Juniors had some mixes results in their games with wins to
the Under 8 blue, 9s and 10s sides with a draw for the Under 13s.
Also some milestones for a number of junior players and
congratulations to Rhys Cole, Daniel Elvin, Jonathon Armstrong for
their 50 games and a special mention to Sean O'Rielly who played his
150th junior game for the Eastern Park Football Club. Seen
below is Sean on the right and "Joff" Armstrong on the
left receiving awards from their coaches.

A local derby of sorts this week with Eastern
Park hosting local rivals Salisbury. The Demons were expected
to win against last on the ladder Salisbury and they did
comfortably. Our lads were on top all day and although
the opposition put up some resistance in the last quarter, the
Demons always had an answer. The Dees outscoring Salisbury in every
quarter to come away with the points. The final score EPFC
17:15 118 to Salisbury 10:13 73
The B grade game was a low scoring affair with only 12 goals in
total by both sides. The boys started well but were slowly
overtaken by the Salisbury side. Some under 18 lads made the senior
debuts and were very impressive. Gav Burckett BOG in his first
B game. The final score EPFC 4:6 30 to Salisbury 8:6 54.
The C's ventured down to St Peters and unfortunately copped another
flogging. This was a huge game for Eastern Park stalwart, Lindsay
Lawrence who played his 450th game for the Mighty Demons.
Congratulations Lindsay on a great achievement.
This weekend saw our A and B grades playing the away
game against Old Ignations. It turned out to be just one of
those days for both our sides. Robo had Old Iggies dialled in and
having coached the Demons in 2004 had a fair idea of their strengths
and weaknesses. Our boys were unable to play disciplined
football and this cost the Demons. The final score EPFC 8:19
58 to Old Ignations 16:15 111. The Bs were not in the hunt
either in a low scoring affair. They only managed 3 goals for
the whole game and were not convincing, the final score EPFC 3:8 28
to Old Ignations 7:10 52
Our C grade performed admirably in their home game against
second on the ladder team Edwardstown. The Demons have been on
the end of some rather large thumping's but the lads only went down by
57 points, Not Bad!! The final score EPFC 10:6 66 to
Edwardstown 18:15 123.
Our Under 18 boys were expected to thump Smithfield this Sunday and
although the lads won comfortably, the game was a scrappy affair.
The style of play was not indicative of the type of footy the boys
have been playing to see them atop the Under 18s ladder.
Hopefully the boys can turn it on at home next week against North
It was a home game for the A and B grade this week and
we had some mixed results. Payneham NU came to Dwight Reserve
and their As lead by Gary Macintosh were too strong for our Lads.
The boys managed a reasonable start and were in the game at quarter
time but they blew us out of the water in the second quarter,
kicking 10 goals to our 3. We won every quarter from then on,
in what was a great fight back but it was to no avail as the
Payneham boys held on to win. The final score EPFC 15:10 100
to PNU's 20:20 140
It was a different story in the B grade with the boys being
behind all day, ( 3 goals down at 3/4 time) but they had a great
five goal last quarter to come away with a 10 point win. Go
Dees! The final score EPFC 11:12 78 to PNU 10:8 68. The
C's went down to Broadview in their cars and in the game. The
Lads are up against it this year often playing younger and faster
sides, however they made a good account of themselves in the match
which only saw them go down by 24 points. The final score EPFC
10:3 63 to Broadview 12:15 87
A great game by our under 18's this week. It was a
battle for top spot on the ladder and our boys showed they are a
force to be reckoned with in their match against Flinders Park.
The final score 16:12 108 to 9:4 58
A good win by our A grade this weekend against one of
the top sides in the competition. In a hard fought match the
Demons came back against Pembroke after being down at quarter time.
Corey Noble was great in his BOG performance which was even more
special as it was his 150th game played for the Demons. A
great milestone celebrated in style. The final score EPFC
13:19 97 to Pembroke OS 9:16 70. The Bs took it up to the
college side but were unable to come away with the points. A
four goal to nil first quarter put the Dees behind the eight ball
and they were never in the hunt from then on.
The C grade were up against it in their game against a much younger
and faster Adelaide Uni side. They tried hard all day but only
managed 4 points for the whole game. Adelaide Uni by plenty.
Our new under 18s side had a great win over local rivals
Salisbury North. The lads ran had all day and had great use of
the ball from start to finish. A great win EPFC 16:14 110 to
Salisbury North 5:9 39
The Demon's Div 3 teams must have enjoyed the break
for Easter as they came out with one thing in mind and that was
winning. The A and the Bs headed down to Pooraka and both came
away with a win. The A grade outscored the opposition in every
quarter to win by a comfortable 30 point margin. The final
score The Dees 13:11 89 to Pooraka 9:15 69. The final
margin was even greater for the Bs with the lads sharing the ball
around well to come away with a great win. The final score
EPFC 14:16 100 to Pooraka 6:4 40.
The Cs were up against it again this weekend and were no match for
the old scholars side in Sacred Heart. The final score SHOC
22:18 150 to EPFC 5:5 35.
The juniors also had some great results this weekend with our new
SAAFL under 18s boys coming away with a win over Lockleys. We
had wins in our 12's,13's,14's and 16's. A great win over
Kilburn by our boys in the under 16's with some new players
experiencing their first win. The boys played really well and
deserve a big pat on the back. Well Done Boys !!!
The Demons were at at home this weekend and they came
up against some stiff opposition in Athelstone. Our A grade
side was simply outclassed by an opposition willing to run and put
their body on the line. The final score was the Raggies 25:15
165 to the Demons 9:11 65. The B grade didn't fair much better
in the earlier game going down in similar circumstances. The Raggies
18:14 122, to good for the Demons, 7:4 48.
The Div 8 match was played at Athelstone and our C grade struggled
in their match against the home side. The Dees only managed
three goals for the game with the final score, Athelstone 12:19 91
to Eastern Park 3:1 19.
Junior Footy is back this week or at least for the Under 11's
up and a good result for our under 12s who had a great win over
Fitzroy. Well done boys!
Footy's Back !! Yes, footy has started for another
year and it was a good start to the season by Easter Park in their
match against Prince Alfred OC. In the away game the boys
notched up their first win of the season with a impressive 7 goal
margin. The final score EPFC 16:17 113 to PAOC 9:16 70.
The Bs went down in the early game with PAOC's inaccurate kicking
still enough to hold the Demons at bay. The final score PAOC
9:17 71 to EPFC 7:4 46.
The C grade hosted Modbury at Dwight Reserve and
it was a dark day for our boys. The result was none to pretty
with the Demons only managing 2 goals for the whole game. EPFC
2:5 17 to Modbury "Plenty"
