Well, that's all folks, for the football season 2005
at least. The C grade were unable to bring home the flag but
were certainly not disgraced in their grand final clash with
Modbury. The game was played at Harper's Field, Golden Grove
which would have to be one of the best surfaces going around.
The boys had a slow start with only one goal, kicked by veteran
centreman, Scott McGee, before the half time break. Although
the lads battled on and scored more freely in the second half, they
were never going to overrun a younger, harder running Modbury side.
Congratulations to Modbury. The final score was 12:11 73
to 6:4 40.
The C and D grades were home at Dwight Reserve this
week in miserable wet conditions. Both of these matches were
for a spot in the Grand Final and Eastern Park came away with one
win and one loss. The C grade were great in their game against
Walkerville who have struggled against the Demons all year.
The Boys were ahead all day but had to weather an onslaught in the
last quarter to finally take out the game by 7 points. The
Final score 7:7 49 to 6:6 42. Lets get behind our
only remaining team in the finals and Go Demons !!!
The D Grade however were unable to get over the line in their effort
against Adelaide University. The Boys kicked 10 behinds before
they scored a major, not a way to win finals. They had plenty
of the ball and dominated the play early but were unable to put the
score on the board. Good Effort none the less. A good
season Lads !
Well it wasn't to be for our Under 12s who
fought hard today but were unable to win the Grand Final held at
Prospect Oval. After a great early start the Demons lost their
run and were unable to match the Modbury side. The Final score EP
4:1 24 to Modbury 5:9 39.
The C and D grades were both at Modbury Oval this
weekend for their finals matches. The Cs were up against
Modbury for a spot in the Div 9 North Grand Final and the Demons
were not disgraced in a close, hard fought match. In dry but
windy conditions Eastern Park showed that they are a real flag
contender with just 2 more games to go. The final margin was
14 points in the end, which will probably make the Modbury side a
little worried. Eastern Park will now play Walkerville at
Dwight Reserve for that GF spot.
The D grade were sensational in their game against Portland.
The Lads were simply too strong for the opposition, almost doubling
their score. The final margin 37 points. The win at home
this week against Adelaide University will see the boys in a grand
final. Go Demons !!!
Our Under 12 side will meet Modbury in the
Grand Final to be played at Prospect Oval this Sunday, 11:40 AM.
Make Sure you get down there to support the future of our club.
Congratulations to Corey Coad who took out the Under 12s
Association Best and Fairest by a massive 10 votes!!!
Finals footy at Dwight Reserve this week with our C
and D grade sides both having a crack at the Demons' home
ground. The C grade came up against Walkerville in conditions
that were not conducive to fast, free flowing footy, but in a hard
slog were able to hold on to come away with the win. The boys
had their noses in front all day, but as the weather cleared late in
the game, Walkerville pushed hard stringing some good running play
together to push the Demons. In the end, it was a 2 goal
margin in a low scoring affair. The boys will meet Modbury next week
to play for a spot in the GF.
The Ds played in the earlier game and were up against Adelaide
University. Our lads who probably give a few years to most of
the Uni boys struggled hard all day but were unable to come away
with the win. The team will meet Portland next week and
hopefully continue their finals campaign.
Congratulations to our Under 12 side who finished MINOR PREMIERS
this season. They also started the finals campaign this week
and played like champions to win a spot in the Grand Final,
defeating Modbury easily 14:6 90 to 7:4 46 . Go you little
Well the season has come to an end for Eastern Park's
A grade but they finished on a high note with a comfortable win over
Portland. The final margin was 51points. The As finish
up with a break even win loss ration, 9 wins and 9 losses.
There are plenty of positives to take out of this year as the Demons
look forward to Div 3 in season 2006. In the earlier game the
Bs went down to Portland but were fairly competitive for most of the
day. A seven goal second quarter set up the win for the
opposition and they ran out winners by 41 points. Not the best
of years for the Bs but things can only get better with a few new
youngsters coming through the ranks.
The C grade were up against Golden Grove and accounted for them
quite easily. The margin was around 10 goals. The boys
can now look forward to success in the finals.
The Ds who were at Dwight Reserve also had Portland this week.
The team had a lot of players out with injury and illness and put up
a valiant effort going down in the end by 4 goals. Big
Congratulations to Peter McMillan (MACCA) who played his 250th this
The 17s played in an elimination final this week against Salisbury in a
rescheduled match. The timing of the game at Kilburn hindered
Eastern Park's ability to field their strongest team due to
commitments that were planned for what was supposed to be a bye.
The match was a hard fought affair with Salisbury taking the
initiative in the "Premiership Quarter" to run out easy victors.
The final margin 94 points. A good effort boys to make the
Its been a tough year for a lot of our junior teams, but congratulations
must go to our Under 8 Red side who remained undefeated for the
year. Also our under 12s who will give the finals a real
A home game for our A grade this week and local rivals
Salisbury were the opposition. The Parkers were down and half
time but after a pasting at half time by the coach, Steve Hocking,
the lads responded and put on 8 goals in the third quarter to put
the game out of Salisbury's reach. The final margin was 27
points. The B grade were not able to get over the line in rhe
earlier game unfortunately, going down by around 14 goal in the end
to a much stronger side.
The C grade went down to Ingle Farm and had another win. The Demons
were never really troubled in the match almost doubling the
opposition;s score. The final margin was 40 points with Corey
kicking 5. The D's also had Salisbury and unfortunately a slow
start cost the boys the win. The Dees took it up to the
opposition in the second half but were always behind the 8 ball
after 13 goal to 1 first half score line.
The 17s went down the hill to meet Smithfield at their home ground.
In wet and cold conditions the young demons were far to strong for
the opposition, taking the match with ease. The final margin
86 points. Congratulations Daniel Underwood on playing his
150th for the Demons
|Daniel Underwood receiving congratulations on his 150th Game
for the Eastern Park Football Club from his Under 17s Coach
|Tim Cotton receives his 100th Game medal and certificate
from his Under 14 coach, Jon Durrant
The A grade went down to Pembroke and fought hard all
day but were not able to come away with the win. It was tight
all day with the Demons up at half time, but were unable to get over
the line, going down by 4 points in the end. The Bs were very
disappointing in the earlier match, only scoring twice for the whole
game, going down 117 points.
What a cakewalk for the C Grade who came up against North Haven at Dwight
reserve. The lads kicked a massive 31goals 28points
while the opposition were lucky to score their solitary point.
A good percentage booster. The Bs also had a good win in their
game against Central United. After a slow start the boys
clicked and started to play footy getting over the opposition by 52
The 17s played really well in their game against quality opposition in
Salisbury. Our boys outclassed the local rivals who had the
wood on the demons earlier this year. They did it easily in
the end winning by 19 points.
The chance of our A grade playing in the finals took a
serious nose dive this weekend with the Dees going down at home to a
stronger finishing Pooraka side. The boys were up by 3 points
at three quarter time but were run over by Pooraka. Although
making the finals is mathematically possible, the chances of making
them are slim, going by the weekend's performance. The final
margin was around 3 goals. The B's didn't have it their way
either and went down in the earlier match by around 6 goals.
The C grade ventured down to Payneham and started the match with
only 16 players. This did not prove to be an obstacle though
with the boys absolutely thrashing a lack lustre Payneham NU side by
a whopping 143 points. The PNU side only managing 3 points for
the whole game. The D grade also had a good win this week. In
the match at Lindbolm Park, the boys thumped the Bulls by 104
The A's ventured down to Walkerville to meet the
bottom of the ladder side. The weather conditions were
difficult and we were not accurate in front of goal but we
managed a good away win. A 29 point win in the end. The
Bs were a little disappointing in the early game only managing to
kick 3 goals for the whole match. The boys going down by 9
The C grade had another great win this week. They also played
Walkerville but at Dwight Reserve. In trying conditions the
boys were too strong for the opposition taking out the match by a
six goal margin. The Ds had a bye this week.
All the juniors including the under 17s had the weekend off.
The 17s will have a bye next week as well.
Our Under 12's have won the state-wide Fasta Pasta
competition in conjunction with the Adelaide Crows F.C.
The FASTA PASTA Crows in Clubs competition, was won from the FASTA
PASTA incentives we have been giving out on Sundays. On
Sunday the 17th July the boys are going to attend Adelaide Crows vs.
Western Bulldogs game and form a Guard of honour for the Adelaide
players as they run out onto the ground. The players will be
wearing their Eastern Park Guernseys and will represent our proud
club. Well Done Boys !!
The A grade played Old Iggies this week and were again
unable to win away from home. The 34 popint loss, which was
Eastern Park's third in a row, certainly puts some pressure on
the boys to perform for the remainder of the season if they are to
have any chance of making the finals. In the earlier game the
B grade were too strong for the opposition, taking the game out by a
4 goal margin. After a scrappy start, the lads found some form
in the second half, keeping Old Iggies scoreless in the third
quarter to come away with a good win.
What can you say about our C grades performance? Fantastic !!
The Cs were at home, hosting local rivals, Salisbury West who
probably wished they had stayed at home. Our Lads absolutely
thumped a hapless Salisbury West side by a whopping 206 points.
Magnificent !! The Ds were also at home where they hosted
Hectorville. In a game against the bottom side, the Demons
didn't perform exceptionally well but still managed to come away
with the points. The final margin was 21 points but should
have been more.
Great to see our Under 16s back in action this week in their
match at Harper's Field against Golden Grove. In a
controversial game the Demons who were a couple of players down
called for a head count in the last quarter and found Golden Grove
fielding 19 players. Our boys were very competitive in the
match and the win which should be awarded to the Dees will be great
for their confidence.
Congratulations to a few of our juniors who have reached Milestones
recently. They include
Kyal Kovatseff who
played his 100th game at Payneham against Payneham NU on
the 19th June and Cameron Whitbrook played his 100th
game on the 6th June against Walkerville. Also to
Mark Wooltorton who played his 50th game on the 10th of
July in a match against Tea Tree Gully
Great job Mark Wooltorton (50th)
Whitbrook's 100th game banner
Kovatseff on his 100th
Eastern Park were victorious in all their Grand Final
appearances !!! Our B grade side defeated Tiki in their match
winning 37 goals to 30. Our under 15 side demolished Koalas in
their final, winning 23 to 5 and in an absolute cliff hanger our
under 11B were behind all night and with the last goal of the game
put their noses in front to take the premiership. The final
score 13 goals to 12.
Eastern Park played Modbury in three out of the four
senior grades this week and unfortunately for the Demons not one of
our teams came away with the points. The A grade were at home
and started the game well with a 7 goal to zip first quarter.
The Dees fell away in the second quarter but the remainder of the
match was a hard fought affair with the lads battling it out right
to the final siren. The final margin was 10 points to the
In the earlier game the Bs were no match for a stronger more determined
Modbury side. Some late goals in the last helped put some
respectability back in the score but the Demons still went down by
The C grade game was a top against second on the ladder match with
Modbury confirming their right to the top spot with a convincing win
over our Lads. The demons were slow out of the blocks but had
a reasonable second half. The final margin was 8 goals.
The D grade were the only senior team that could hold their heads up this
weekend with a good win over local rivals Elizabeth. The lads
started slowly in the match at Argana Park but a six goal third
quarter helped put the game out of Elizabeth's reach. The
final margin was 21 points. Go Demons.
Eastern Park netballers are in the finals. The A
grade have their final this Wednesday 29th of June at 8:00 pm at
Argana Park. The under 15s and under 11's have their finals
this Friday the 1st July at 7:15 PM also at Argana Park. We
encourage everyone from the club to get down there to support the
girls. Go Demons
A loss for Eastern Park's A grade this week,
continuing with the "away game" hoodoo. The As were on the
wrong side of a fair thumping by Athelstone going down by 50 points
in a disappointing performance. Frustrating for everyone
concerned especially when we know we are much better than our result
showed. The Bs were also disappointing in the earlier game at
Torrens Valley Oval going down by over 10 goals in a dismal
On a lighter note the C grade were at home and absolutely
thumped a lack lustre Fitzroy, by a huge 245 point margin. The
final score EPFC 39:21 255 to Fitzroy 1.4 10. This would
have to be one of the highest scores kicked by the Demons and it was
great percentage building win by our boys who are on fire this year.
Banks and Chalmers with a lazy 10 each. The D grade accounted for
Edwardstown in the earlier game although it was a very tight affair.
The Boys kicked 4:5 in the last to come away with the premiership
points. The final margin was only 2 points. Well Done!
The 17s were away against the top side Central United and
were very unlucky, going down by a solitary goal. A great
effort by the boys who struggled without a bench and were down to 17
players by the end of the game. Great effort to push this team
more than anyone else this season.
It was the Showdown for the under 8 boys this weekend with
with Damo's U8 Blue side coming up against Richies' U8 White side.
Bragging rights were at stake here and it was president Damo's Blue
side that came away with the win. All the boys from both sides
played well and enjoyed the game.
Refreshed after the long weekend break, Eastern Park
came up against the much fancied Sacred Heart side and gave them a
hiding. It was a great win by the the Demons, downing the
opposition by a healthy 67 points. A tough, courageous effort
by our A grade side. The Bs were also victorious in the
earlier game at Dwight Reserve, with the youngsters in the team
starting to fire and gain confidence. A modest but encouraging 18
point win to the Dees.
Another solid win by our C grade sees them firmly placed at the
right end of the premiership ladder. They had a 28 point win
over Adelaide University despite numerous changes to the side since
the last game. Great win Demons. The D's were valiant in their
match against second to top side, Adelaide Uni, only going down by
around three goals in a hard fought match that gave the opposition a
run for their money.
The 17s were away at Harpers Field where the met Golden Grove.
In a tight seesawing match the boys snuck home by three points.
Great effort lads.
A special mention this week for our three Under 8s sides who all
had victories. The Red, Blue and White teams did particularly well
and should be congratulated.
A great turn around by Eastern Park this week, with
all senior grades winning their matches. The A grade had an
easy win over bottom of the ladder Portland at Dwight reserve,
getting home by 25 points. The B's also had an easy win over
Portland, the margin 33 points in the end.
The C grade went down to Harpers Field and gave Golden Grove a
football lesson. The 114 point margin was a great win by the
boys who a looking good this season. The Ds got in on the act
as well with another win over Portland at their home ground. A
10 point win to the boys.
The 17s were at home today and had a great win over local rivals
Smithfield. With only 17 players due to a number of injuries,
the boys played really well to thrash Smithfield, with 11 separate
goal kickers it was a great win by the boys..
A great win by our under 12s this week. It was a
top of the ladder clash with Modbury who were also unbeaten
this season. Well Done under 12s, top spot is all yours !!
Congratulations to one of our juniors, Matthew White, who this
weekend notched up his 150th game for the Eastern Park Football
Club. Matthew who plays in the Under 14's side is seen below
with Coach Jon Durrant. Well Done !!
Congratulations also to Cameron Whitbrook in the under 13s who
played his 100the game for the Demons
Not the greatest of weekends for Eastern Park with
only one of its senior sides having a win. The As and Bs
ventured down the road to Salisbury and certainly met some stiff
opposition. The As were hammered by a far better team on the
day, going down by 12 goals in a disappointing effort by the Demons.
The Bs suffered a heavy loss as well going down by a similar margin.
It was a 14 goal deficit in a match that saw the Dees only kick 4
goals for the whole game. Disappointing would be an apt
description of the performance against local rivals Salisbury.
The C grade were the only shining light this weekend.
They wiped the floor with Ingle Farm in their match at Dwight
Reserve. A great performance winning in the end by 15 goals.
Unfortunately for the Demons, the D grade also went down to
Salisbury in the game.
Not a great weekend also for our juniors who suffered heavy losses
in the 13s, 14s, 15s 16s and 17s. A great win though by our
strong under 12s side coached by EPFC's junior delegate Jeff
McCulloch. Well done 12s
It is always good to recognise milestones for Eastern
Park footballers, particularly the junior players who are the future
of our club. Seen below is Shane Burckett receiving a
certificate from Vice President and Coach, Jon Durrant for his 50th
A great win for the A grade this weekend. The
Dees were a home to take on Pembroke OS on a very dry
and parched Dwight Reserve. The 2nd on the ladder team
were no match for the mighty red and blues in a confidence building
win. The final margin 15 points. The Bs weren't as
successful but did not disgrace themselves going down by 20 points
in the end with younger lads really performing well against quality
A huge win for the C grade who went down to North Haven. On a
rock hard ground the boys were far to strong, whipping the
opposition by a massive 153 points. The D grade came up
against local rivals Central United and came away with the points.
A great 35 point win for Grant Richardson's 200th game for the
There were no senior games this week with the SAAFL
teams all having the long weekend off. Not so for the juniors
in the NEMJFA who played on Sunday. There were some mixed results
for the juniors with our 8 Reds, 9s, 12s and 16s all recording wins.
The 16s annihilated Payneham NU in their match played at Dwight
Reserve. The demons in this group having the measure of the
Collingwood look-alikes as they have done since entering the
competition last year.
We did however suffer some heavy losses this weekend which is
something our junior teams need to work on. The Under 15s are
trying hard and I think deserve special mention for their dedication
to play footy for Eastern Park. They are not travelling the
best at the moment but front up every week and put their hands up to
play for the Demons. Well Done under 15s. Great work
also to their coach Stephen Warren who is doing a great job with the
boys and has worked tirelessly to get this team together.
Not a great weekend for our A and B grades, with both
sides going down to Pooraka in lack lustre performances. The
late match at Lindblom Park saw Eastern Park only scoring 3 goals in
a disappointing performance, the margin 64 points in the end.
The B grade's effort was somewhat better and they stayed withe the
opposition for most of the day but unfortunately the result was
never in doubt. Pooraka by 22 points.
Much better results for our C and D graders both coming away with
wins. The C grade absolutely annihilated Payneham NU at Dwight
reserve, and with 13 separate goals scorers it was a great
performance for the home crowd. A little revenge for Eastern
Park with our D grade stitching up Pooraka in the Div 10N match.
A good 26 point win to the demons.
The 17s were up against last years premiers and it turned out to be a
long day for our lads. In the end it was a 67 point victory to Tea
What a fantastic win by our A graders this weekend.
The boys were at home and were 11 goals down early into the third
quater in their match against Walkerville. The lads dug deep
and came back from the dead taking out the match by a thrilling 1
point margin. Great Game Lads. The Bs, however were not
as fortunate in their game, going down by 26 points in the end.
It was another win against Walkerville by the C grade as well.
The Cs went down to their ground and had a 23 point win.
What a great win by the 17s. They absolutely spanked Salisbury
North by 116 points at their home ground. A great come back by
the lads after last week.
A good weekend for Eastern Park with all of their
senior teams coming away with wins. The A's and Bs were too
strong for Old Iggies in their matches at Dwight Reserve. The 65
point drubbing inflicted by the A grade was a great win against a
side lead by former EPFC coach, Robo. An 11 goal win by the Bs
was a good sign after some indifferent form the season so far.
Keep it up Dees.
The C grade were up against local northern rivals, Salisbury West
in an away game that saw the boys come away with the win. A
sweet victory and a substantial one also, the margin a healthy 9
goals. The long trip down to Hectorville was a fruitful one
with the D's rewarded with a 12 goal win. This was a real team
effort with all players contributing. Great Win Boys!
The Under 17s were at home again this week and took on Central
United, discovering that they have a lot of work to do. The final
margin 57 points in a lack lustre performance.
Eastern Park ventured up to Modbury on the weekend and
unfortunately for the A grade Demons they didn't turn on a "A" grade
performance going down by 48 points. The result was not any
better for the B grade, getting thumped by 63 points in a
The C Grade were at home and although the lads went down by 8
points they played a great game. The lads were up for most of
the day but just could not hang on, a great effort none the least.
The D grade absolutely annihilated local rivals Elizabeth. The
Demons smashed the Eagles by a whopping 28 gaols. Great
The Under 17s were at home and took on Golden Grove. In a
hard fought match the Dees managed to survive a last minute goal
attempt by the opposition to win by a point. Well Done.
WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR SOME JUNIOR PLAYERS,
PARTICULARLY UNDER 15's AND 16's. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, GIVE
THE CLUB A CALL ON 82521691. COME AND JOIN THE DEMONS.
It was Eastern Park's first home game of the season
and the A grade Demons came away with the win against a determined
Athelstone. With 33 scoring shots to 21 the score line should
have been dominated by the Dees but poor kicking saw the final
margin at only 7 points. Goal kicking practice perhaps a
priority at training this week, (21 points just too many).
Well done Lads and keep those hangers coming Gatts and Payney.
The B's didn't have their way in the earlier game unfortunately
going down by 34 points in weather more suited to beach going then
The C grade ventured down to Fitzroy and showed the locals how to
play, coming away with a comfortable 78 point win. A great
team effort with 10 different goal kickers in the total of 16.
The D's also had a great win in their match against Edwardstown, the
final margin 26 points in a big improvement from last week.
Footy's Back! The SAAFL season officially
started this weekend with Eastern Park's sides not having the most
wonderful start to the season. A young A grade went down to
Sacred Heart and in the stifling heat were unable to come away with
the win going down by 19 points in the end. The Bs had and
even tougher day, with SHOC winning the game by a 45 point margin.
The C grade were the shining lights this weekend with a 82
point flogging of Adelaide Uni in 37 degree heat at Dwight reserve.
It was a great effort from a team with a mix of youth and
experience. In the earlier game the D's were not so fortunate
going down by 28 points.
Junior footy is well under way with some trial matches
played on Sunday against Golden Grove at their new Harper's Field
complex. Good to see the juniors enjoying their Football.
WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR SOME JUNIOR PLAYERS,
PARTICULARLY UNDER 15's AND 16's. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, GIVE
THE CLUB A CALL ON 82521691. COME AND JOIN THE DEMONS.
Commiserations to Eastern Park's A Grade Cricket side
who unfortunately went down in the PDCA Grade 2 Grand Final last
weekend. The Lads lost the toss and South Gawler decided to
bat first making a credible 250. McConnell and Ryall the best
of our bowlers with 4/46 and 4/58 respectively. The Demons
were unable to step up in the batting department, scoring only 148.
They boys did however, have a good season with only two losses
for the year. Well Done Lads and Congrats to South Gawler.
Congratulations to Eastern Park's Under 13's Cricket
side who took out the Grand Final this weekend. The
young Lads played superbly to take the group D premiership against a
spirited South Gawler. Some of the highlight included an
unbeaten 52 by Jordan Allen, Jake Sandell on 29 ans Zeke Prime with
27. In the Bowling Department we had Kyle Kovatseff with 2 for
6, and young Payne with 2 for 18, Claxton chipping in with 2 for 25
The final Scores were Eastern Park 8 for 215 with South
Gawler all out for 137. Great win Boys
With two minor round matched to go until the finals
series begin, all three Eastern Park senior sides are well
positioned to play off for the big one. The A grade are sitting
comfortably on top of the ladder while the Bs and Cs are hovering
within the final four.
A grade lost its first match
for the season in a hard fought slog out with Virginia this weekend.
Batting first Virginia compiled 170. Carey Payne took 3 for 32,
Wayne Osborne 3 for 47 and Kenny Mac and Franky picked up two
In response Eastern Park batted poorly and
only managed 138. Franky Manikas was best with the bat scoring 37
not out and Ken McConnell chipped in with 22.
Ben Whalen playing only his second A grade
game for the year took three great catches.
Virginia batted again and at stumps were 2
for 57. Brad (Jonte) Ryall grabbed both of the wickets.
The senior presentation evening will be
held at the Midway Tavern on Friday April 1. Cost will be
around $15 for a sit down meal, all players are encouraged to attend
and supporters are welcome.
Eastern Park's A Grade Cricket side is having an
absolute dream season this year and they still remain undefeated
after their latest win over Central United. Marshall scoring a
brilliant 51 with Durrant making a respectable 31. On the
bowling side, McConnell chipped in with 2/15 for the win which sees
EPFC on top of the Grade 2 Ladder in the Para Districts Cricket
Association. To see the Grade 2 Ladder
